Workshop on the implementation and monitoring of Regional Innovation Strategies

A workshop entitled Implementation and monitoring of Regional Innovation Strategies will take place on 13 and 14 May 2004 in Cyprus.

13 May 2004 - 14 May 2004

More than 100 member regions of the Innovating Regions in Europe (IRE) network have formulated regional innovation strategies, and twenty regions in the Acceding and Accession countries are currently about to complete the formulation of their innovation plans. The key challenge for these regions is to transform the strategic priorities set up in their plans into concrete actions and to ensure the implementation of selected projects.
This workshop, which is organised by the IRC-IRE Central Unit in collaboration with the Regional Innovation Strategy (RIS) Cyprus project, will present the experience of selected regions that have successfully implemented their RIS projects, thereby contributing to boosting innovation in their regions. The second part of the workshop will pay special attention to those mechanisms set up in regions to manage and monitor their innovation activities.
The concrete examples that will be presented include:
- The integration of Lower Austrias innovation strategy into the regions Structural Funds programme,- The implementation of Wales innovation strategy with regional funding,- The impact of the Swedish regional innovation strategies on national level,- The regional innovation monitoring system in Dutch Limburg,- The Innovation Observatory in Central Macedonia
