INFORUM'98, a one-day conference addressing issues related to information management will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 14 May 1998. The conference will be organized by the Association Belge de Documentation (ABD), with the participation of Service d'Information Scientifique et Technique (SIST) and the European Council of Information Associations (ECIA).
The conference will consist of a series of presentations from keynote speakers and will include an address from a representative of the European Commission and from the President of the ABD. The topics to be covered at the conference include:
- Information and society:
. Information Society or information for society;
. Internet: The world of electronic information for the citizen;
- From librarian to knowledge manager:
. From the 19th to 21st century: from grand-parents to grand-children;
. Knowledge management: Theory and practice;
. Technology for knowledge management;
. Finding a balance in university libraries between content management and access management;
- Professions in information, past and future:
. New tasks for information specialists.
