At the Second Chianti Meeting on Proteases in Certosa di Pontignano, Siena, Italy May 16-20 2004, members of the Cancerdegradome Integrated Project presented their results on the roles of proteases in cancer.

Consortium partner Francesco Blasi discussed how proteases control cell growth, Pia Ragno showed how proteases can affect stem cell mobilisation, and Keld Dano showed the latest data on how proteases are involved in cancer invasion. In addition, Daniela Alfano representing MP Stoppellis laboratory spoke about protease-induced cell death and CJ Shukla from Coordinator Dylan Edwards laboratory presented data on protease gene expression in prostate cancer and which genes could be potential therapeutic targets.,The CANCERDEGRADOME project is an Integrated Project of the European Commissions Sixth Framework Programme.
