Integrated urban water management within the context of global change in Europe and developing countries

This is done in the context of the next deadline (26 October 2004) of the 3rd call for proposals for indirect RTD actions under the specific programme for research, technological development and demonstration: 'Integrating and strengthening the European Research Area', sub-priority 1.1.6.3 Global Change and Ecosystems".
Under these topics, the Commission has launched a call for two ambitious Integrated Projects aiming at building-up a platform for long-term RTD support for sustainable integrated urban water management and governance systems and drinking water systems in the context of the new urban realities of the 21st century. Relevant efforts are also considered as essential part of the commitment to the EU Water Initiative and the implementation of the Environmental Technology Action Plan/Water Supply and Sanitation Technology Platform.
The objective of this Information Day is to present the related topics covered in the work programme and to provide opportunities for the dissemination of information, exchange of views and discussions on potential partnerships among prospective applicants. To this end, participants will have the opportunity to discuss research challenges and provide brief outline presentations on their current activities, project ideas and/or on networking opportunities. Overview information on related ongoing EC funded projects will be given.
