Baltic Dynamics: Innovation and Development of Knowledge-Based Entrepreneurship

The Baltic Dynamics international conference was an initiative of the Baltic Association of Science/Technology Parks and Innovation Centres BASTIC - and has been held annually since its inception. The conference venue is rotated between the Baltic States Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

In recent years it is not only the three Baltic States that have shown exciting and dynamic development in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. Innovation links between the countries around the Baltic Sea have been established and successful economic initiatives developed.
The conference organisers invite everyone one involved in the dynamic development of high-tech entrepreneurship - leaders of innovative companies, managers of science/technology parks and centres, public authorities responsible for innovation in the region, venture capital organisations, etc. - to present and discuss initiatives in the area of innovation strategy and policy.
The conference will focus on the following main topics: ,- Development of National Innovation Systems: latest achievements, action plans, instruments, success stories, etc. ,- Cooperation between different networks supporting knowledge-based entrepreneurship: IRE/RIS, IRC, PAXIS, Gate2Growth, EUREKA, etc. ,- The role of professional associations in the promotion of practical international co-operation: IASP, EBN, NBIA, ADT, SPICE, PBICA, BASTIC, etc. ,- Access to venture capital problems and solutions for high-tech companies ,- Best practice in the creation of infrastructure for knowledge-based business: the role of Science/Technology Parks and Business Incubators ,- The use of EU structural funds for high-tech business development - experience in different countries ,- Technology transfer and commercialisation of R&D results ,- Public Private Partnership in high-tech business development
The following parallel workshops are planned: ,- EBN workshop utilising the EBN network opportunities and options for the new EU member states (coordinated by EBN; preliminary title) ,- The role of universities in creating an innovation culture teaching creativity and sowing entrepreneurial spirit (coordinated by Riga's Institute of Banking Higher Education) ,- The IRC Network activating international technology transfer (coordinated by IRC LATVIA) ,- German Baltic Cooperation Workshop (coordinated by AiF, Germany) ,- World Bank and SPICE group Workshop on the infoDev project for business incubation (to be confirmed)

Participation Fees ,- 150 EUR for speakers and members of EBN, SPICE, BASTIC ,- 200 EUR for others ,- free of charge for students from Baltic countriesThe host organisations of the BALTIC DYNAMICS 2004 are the Latvian Association of Science/Technology Parks, Centres and Business Incubators, the Latvian Technological Centre and the Riga Institute of Banking Higher Education, supported by EBN (European Business Innovation Centres Network) and Latvia's Ministry of Education and Science and Ministry of Economics. The event is co-ordinated with the IASP, ADT, PBICA, BASTIC and SPICE group associations, and others.
