1. Thematic PROLEARN Workshop on Technology Enhanced Learning

The workshop will present the latest research results and developments in this area, focusing on the use of TEL from the perspective of both the user and the provider. Additionally, the workshop will examine the various ways of integrating eLearning in company-wide education programmes.

PROLEARN's 1st thematic workshop, under the auspices of Christian Wulff, the Prime Minister of the State of Lower Saxony, provides an overview on technology enhanced learning (TEL) in learning organisations. The workshop will present the latest research results and developments in this area, focusing on the use of TEL from the perspective of both the user and the provider. Additionally, the workshop will examine the various ways of integrating eLearning in company-wide education programmes.
Presentations from TEL projects in the 5th and 6th Framework Programme of the EC will detail the achievements and results of national and international co-operations. Furthermore, the agenda includes presentations on the various funding availabilities for research and development projects in regional, national, and international funding programmes; for example, the EC 6th Framework Programme and the EC's cooperative research scheme, CRAFT.
Internationally renowned researchers' such as Prof. Mathias Jarke from the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft and Managing Director of the German Computer Science Society, and Prof. Erik Duval, President of the Ariadne Foundation will provide examples of the integration of TEL in business processes as well as discussing lessons learned in this process. Dr. Paul Lefrere, Executive Director E-learning at Microsoft EMEA, and Frank Milius, member of the Management Board of i-mc AG will report on recent research projects and results of TEL employed in the corporate world. Finally, representatives of European and regional funding agencies will discuss existing and future funding and co-operation possibilities.
While the agenda includes many high-level presentations, workshop participants will also have the opportunity to discuss latest developments with high-ranking researchers and company representatives, establish new contacts, and facilitate new co-operations. The workshop will take place on November 4 and 5, 2004, at the Radisson Hotel and the L3S Research Center, Expo Plaza, Hannover, Germany.
