CONGRESS OF THE EU FOOD AND DRINK INDUSTRY
How do consumers perceive the health risks linked to being overweight? Which instruments do they find the most effective in fighting against obesity and in encouraging people to have more healthy diets? These questions, among others, were at the centre of the 2004 edition of the omnibus survey on food issues carried out by the independent research company Globescan International in five countries in the EU in May and June 2004.
The presentation of these results is only one element of the CIAA Congress. During the plenary session on September 30, key representatives of the EU, CEOs of major food and drink players and Scientists will share their vision on the ways to contribute to better health and nutrition for European consumers.
On October 1, the interactive parallel sessions will be the opportunity for a lively debate with experts from various horizons on three major topics:
· Understanding and influencing consumer choices and attitudes,· Nutrition information vs education,· Products and communication on products: the food and drink industry contribution to healthy lifestyles and balanced nutrition
During the two days of the Congress, in the exhibition area, you will discover the various initiatives launched to promote healthy lifestyles and balanced nutrition. About 15 industry federations from various Member States and major food companies will be exhibiting. Finally, the representatives of the food and drink industry from new member states will be there to introduce their industry and their products.
