HPN'98 - The millennium push of Internet

The eighth conference on High Performance Networking (HPN'98), organized by the International Federation of Information Processors (IFIP), will be held in Vienna, Austria, from 21 to 25 September 1998. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum where specialists from industry, network operators and academia can share their experiences in high performance networking (HPN).

The conference will focus on many of the new issues related to Internet and Intranet applications such as multimedia applications running in Web browsers, Java applets and applications, and Web collaboration tools. The conference will also examine concepts and approaches aimed at improving the performance, usability, interoperability and scaleability of systems, in addition to the practical and experimental challenges of HPN.

Topics to be covered by the conference include:

- Trends of Internet and Intranet technologies;
- Network/system architecture and design;
- Security in Internet and network/system security;
- Internet mobility support and mobility management;
- Advanced Internet protocols;
- Quality of service and service level guarantees;
- Internet groupware and cooperative work.
