Training Course for Operators of the RODOS System

The Training Centre (FTU) of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe organises a training course for operators of the RODOS system. This course was developed by the Institute of Nuclear and Energy Technologies (IKET) of Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe and is held in co-operation with the European Commission, DG Research J.4 Brussels. The event will take place in Karlsruhe, Germany, from 7 to 11 March 2005.

7 March 2005 - 11 March 2005

The aim of the course is to train the participants in operating the RODOS system with the aid of the system documentation, in particular the user guide answering decision makers requests in emergency, exercise and training situations acting as trainers in their countries by repeating the course after its adaption to the national needs.
Input will be given on the functionality of the RODOS system, its user interface, the coupling to radiological and meteorological data networks, the visualisation of real-time data, the input of data, the different modes of operation, the selection of results and the tools for presenting them. Each aspect will then be trained by direct interaction with the system in small working groups.
Target groups are operators interacting directly with the real-time on-line decision support system RODOS for nuclear off-site emergency management. Participants must have experienc in the operation of UNIX based workstations and/or Windows PCs, and should have basic knowledge in radiation protection and off-site emergency management.
The following topics will be covered:, ,- Coupling of RODOS to local and national data networks,- Operation of the user interface and supporting system tools,- Performance of RODOS runs in the interactive mode to obtain results at different levels of information processing,- Operation of RODOS in the automatic mode,- Selection of results, their visualisation on the screen and in the form of paper output,- Exercise of a simulated emergency situation,- Customisation of the training course to national conditions
