LAUNCHING OF A NEW FORUM DEDICATED TO WIRELESS BROADBAND ACCESS EVERYWHERE

The EU funded BROADWAN project launched the Wibrace forum on 9 December at the Broadband Europe event in Bruges, Belgium.

The key focus of the Wibrace forum is the implementation of wireless access systems, targeting fixed and nomadic users, within a heterogeneous network architecture offering state-of-the-art broadband content capability.
The Wibrace forum is a forward-looking, non-profit organisation formed to promote the exploitation of next-generation wireless technologies as a means of providing access to genuine broadband services for all citizens wherever they may be., ,Why join the Wibrace forum?, ,Wireless access technologies are now mature for system deployment; however the increasing need for bandwidth is requiring further technology developments. Wibrace is initially created by the BROADWAN European R&D project (http://www.broadwan.org/(opens in new window)) which,includes the main operators, vendors and universities involved in the development and the deployment of next generation wireless access systems., ,By taking part in the Wibrace initiative, you will be able to contribute to this next wave of development, set up new R&D projects, make joint contributions to the standards bodies and share promotional efforts., ,During the forum's first year of existence (until December 2005) and in order to open the forum to the widest possible audience, admission is free of charge.
