Seminar on EU/Asia-Pacific R&D Collaboration

The second of a series of seminars on EU/Asia-Pacific science and technology collaboration will take place in the afternoon of the 3rd February 2005 at the Royal Institute of International Affairs in London, UK.

The objective of these seminars which opened in December 2004 is to explore areas of collaboration between Europe and the Asia Pacific region to respond to a growing awareness in Europe of the need to increase the innovation level of the European Union in comparison with US and Japan.
On this occasion, the seminar entitled Framework Programme-Information Society Technologies will focus on the collaboration opportunities offered by the Information Society Technologies (IST) programme of the Sixth Framework Programme for Research and Development (2002-2006) of the European Union.
The seminar will be addressed by Mr. Jean-Yves Roger, Head of Sector of international relations of the Directorate General Information Society of the European Commission as well as a parallel contribution from the UK-based Asian corporate constituency. The audience will be composed of officials from the Asian country Embassies in London as well as representatives from many Asia Pacific UK-based technology firms.
