EUA Convention of European Higher Education Institutions

EUA's Convention "Strong Universities for Europe" will provide a unique forum for Europe's universities, other higher education institutions and partners to discuss the increasingly important role of institutions and students in implementing the Bologna Process reforms and in making the knowledge society a reality for Europe's citizens. It takes place in Glasgow, UK, 31 March to 2 April, 2005.

31 March 2005 - 2 April 2005

The Convention conclusions will provide the input for the Glasgow Declaration a strong, united message from the higher education community - to be presented to the European Ministers of Education on 19 May 2005 at the next meeting of the Bologna Process in Bergen, Norway.
Convention highlights include:
Presentation of the first findings of the Trends IV report on the state of play in implementing the Bologna reforms in higher education institutions across Europe, based on an institutional rather than national approach. The influential Trends reports produced by EUA, are the only studies to provide a cross European picture of the progress made and challenges that remain.
Key note speeches by Ján Figel, European Commissioner for Education, Culture and Multilingualism and Ruth Kelly, UK Secretary of State for Education and Skills.
Discussion panels of international education experts, including the Presidents of ACE and IAU and representatives from Latin America and Asia, and stakeholders including student, business and trade union representatives.
Heads of higher education institutions from 45 countries across Europe, reflecting EUAs wide membership (over 750 institutions + 34 National Rectors Conferences).
Further information is available at http://www.EUAconvention.org(opens in new window)
