ICEM'99, the seventh international conference on radioactive waste management and environmental remediation, will be held in Nagoya, Japan, from 26 to 30 September 1999. The conference will be jointly organized by the American and Japanese Societies of Mechanical Engineers and the Atomic Energy Society of Japan, with support from the European Commission, as a cooperating organization.

The aim of the conference is to promote the global exchange of information on technologies, operations, management approaches, economics, and public policies in the field of radioactive waste management and environmental remediation.

Papers are invited on topics under the following programme strands:

- Low/intermediate-level waste management;
- High-level waste, spent fuel and fissile material management;
- Facility decontamination and decommissioning;
- Environmental remediation;
- Major institutional issues in environmental management.
