EU-Russian Brokerage Event at Med-e-Tel 2005

Supported by Admire-P and SITE, a team of Russian researchers will be taking part in the Med-e-Tel 2005 conference in Luxembourg.

Med-e-Tel focuses on a wide range of medical ICT applications and on the convergence of information and communication technology with medical applications. The conference targets a variety of groups active in the crossover between research in IT and the medical sector such as consultants, educators and researchers, government representatives, homecare services, hospital buyers and insurers.

The Russian researchers will present their most recent research results at the Med-e-Tel and will be looking for IST-project partners.
At the conference you will be able to meet researchers from the Volga-region and Siberia at the SITE/Admire-P exhibition stand and explore with them the potential for joint IST- projects.
A number of additional support services for collaborating with Russia will be available at the SITE/Admire-P booth at the Med-e-Tel:,- You will be able to consult two catalogues containing approximately 100 specific profiles of Russian researchers active in research areas pertaining to the Med-e-Tel conference. You are invited to take advantage of the partnering opportunities linked to these catalogues.,- You will have the opportunity to search the online database comprising 230 updated and classified profiles of Russian researchers active in the different priorities of the IST-programme.,- You will have the chance to gather information about the support available for establishing contacts with Russian partners and information on the assistance EU and Russian partners receive from Admire-P and SITE in order to overcome the cultural problems surrounding collaboration.
Funded within the IST-programme, Admire-P and SITE promote European co-operation in IST with two specific Russian regions located to the East of Moscow:,Pri-volzhsky Federal District (PFD), also called the "Volga region, is located about 500 km to the East of Moscow. Its capital is Nizhniy Novgorod, formerly Gorki. ,Sibirsky Federal District (SFD) is located between 3,000 and 5,000 km to the East of Moscow and covers an area of about 5 million km². Its capital is the purposebuilt academic city of Novosibirsk.
Both districts show great research potential in the fields of eHealth and Telemedicine.
Over 12% of Russia's researchers are employed in institutes located in Privolzhsky Federal District (PFD) and 20% of all Russian patents are granted for innovations developed in PFD.,It has carried out a widespread range of research in the area of Information Society Technologies including broadband transmission, e-learning, nano-technologies, photonics, technologies for trust and confidence and medical ICT applications.
At present Sibirsky Federal District has great industrial, scientific and research potential since during World War II numerous industrial plants, factories and research centres were moved to Siberia from industrially highly developed regions around Moscow and St. Petersburg.,Mostly unknown to Europeans, SFD hosts approximately 250 universities and research institutes, with some 13,000 researchers strong in IT.
Admire-P and SITE are coordinated by Singleimage, Cambridge, UK.,FFG/ Austrian Research Promotion Agency, Vienna is partner in both projects.
The Russian partner of Admire-P is the University of Nizhniy Novgorod, Nizhniy Novgorod, Privolzhsky Federal District.,The Russian partner of SITE is the Association for Engineering Education of Russia (AEER), represented by Tomsk Polytechnical University, Tomsk, Sibirsky Federal District.
