"What science - What Europe ?" - Public conference and debate on FP7

David Hammerstein and The Greens/EFA in the European Parliament have the pleasure to invite you to a conference on research policy and the Framework Programme that will take place on 2-3 May 2005 in the European Parliament in Brussels.

2 May 2005 - 3 May 2005
Belgium
The aim of this meeting is to gather key EU policy-makers and stakeholders of research in order to think about what the 7th Framework programme can bring to the future development of European science and innovation. Commissioner J. Potocnik will open the debates, which will be followed by a discussion on how knowledge can contribute to innovation with Susana Borras and Jurgen Renn. Besides, a wide range of end-users of research funding such as SMEs, a very big company, a NGO, an independent research centre, etc will have the chance to express their opinions.
The second day of the conference will be introduced by well-known Belgian philosopher of science Isabelle Stengers, and will focus on the content of research programmes (health, environment, ICT, energy) and on the means to increase societal relevance.
The conference will end with a roundtable made of representatives of the main political groups in the European Parliament.
