FP6 Projects will show their results at the IBC 2005

Eight Projects working in the area of Networked Audiovisual systems and Home Platforms (NAVSHP) of the European Commission's Sixth Framework Programme (FP6) presented their proposals to participate in the IBC2005 NAVSHP Village, during a meeting of the AVISTA project held in Munich on 10th May 2005.

The projects were invited to the Progress Meeting of AVISTA in order to define the strategy of the NAVSHP common Village and to discuss the main logistics issues.
Previously, AVISTA project defined a survey which was distributed to the NAVSHP projects in order to evaluate the quality of the proposals of dissemination results. All the projects which manifested their interest in the NAVSHP Village by responding this survey were invited to the Progress Meeting.
COHERENT, DANAE, ENTHRONE, EPERSPACE, INSTINCT, MEDIANET, MHP-CONFIDENCE and TIRAMISU explained their proposals for the Common Exhibition, which will take place in Amsterdam from 9th to 13th September 2005, in the framework of the IBC2005 Event.
A 64 m2 booth has been booked by the AVISTA Project and will be shared among the projects finally selected by the European Commission bearing in mind the recommendation of the AVISTA consortium.
This common exhibition is one of the main activities of the communication plan of the AVISTA Project and its goal is to support the dissemination of results of a number of NAVSHP projects.
Additionally, the whole portfolio of NAVSHP projects will be invited to take an active role the IBC2005 NAVSHP Village by introducing their projects in a theatre to be installed within the NAVSHP Village area.
The possibility of organizing the common exhibition structured in different spaces devoted to different technological areas was analyzed. An agreement among projects was reached to make exhibitions around the following areas: convergence and QoS, 3D, interactive TV, residential gateways and extended home, scalable video, security and protection (MPEG 21), etc.
By taking into account the agreement reached among projects during this meeting, the AVISTA proposal will be further discussed at the upcoming Concertation Meeting of the whole NAVSHP participating projects.
AVISTA is a Specific Support Action project within the NAVSHP strategic objective, funded by the European Commission FP6 programme. It aims at supporting the FP6 projects in the area in a number of topics: concertation, projects portfolio, standardization, New Media Council, common exhibitions, etc. AVISTA partners are: ROSE Vision (coordinator), TELVIUM, INSTITUT FUER RUNDFUNKTECHNIK GMBH (IRT), PHILIPS ELECTRONICS NEDERLAND B.V. TELEDIFFUSION DE FRANCE.
