A workshop on "New methods of work and electronic commerce" will be held in Dublin, Ireland, on 11 and 12 June 1998. The event is organized by Forbairt, the Irish development agency, and members of the IDEALFIT network, which aims to match partners for projects in the EU's Information Technologies research programme (ESPRIT). The workshop will present the planned "New Methods of work and electronic commerce" Key Action of the Information Societies Technologies (IST) programme of the proposed Fifth RTD Framework Programme.

The workshop will provide one of the first opportunities to hear the views of the European Commission and industry on the new Key Action. The current draft work programme will be presented by Ms. Rosalie Zobel, of the Commission's Directorate General for Industry (DG III). Major telecommunications companies from all over Europe will also present their views during the workshop.

The opportunity to present ideas for projects under the new Key Action will be open to participants who are searching for partners for proposals. The workshop will be accessible by videoconference at a number of locations across Europe, in order to ensure maximum participation in the event.

The following topics will be covered during the event:

- Flexible mobile and remote working methods and tools;
- Information security;
- Management systems for suppliers and consumers;
- Integrated applications platforms and accompanying measures.
