IRE workshop: Promoting an innovation culture in the regions
Many member regions in the Innovating Regions in Europe (IRE) network have realised that it is not sufficient to focus their innovation strategies only on issues such as the exploitation of research results, company creation and product development, but have also included the promotion of an innovation culture. The main challenge remains, however, to define and launch actions that are able to have an influence on people's attitudes, values and behaviour.
The aim with the workshop, organised by the IRE Secretariat in collaboration with the Northwest Development Agency in Liverpool on 27-28 October 2005, is to present regional initiatives that successfully address the issue of regional innovation culture. The seminar includes examples of schemes aiming to promote an innovation culture among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), stimulating the entrepreneurial spirit in a region and creating innovative environments.
