NAVSHP IST Village at IBC 2005

NAVSHP IST Village at IBC 2005 inaugurated on 9 September 2005 at the International Broadcasting Convention Trade Show in Amsterdam.

9 September 2005 - 13 September 2005
Spain
Eight European Research and Development projects, supported by the European Specific Support Action AVISTA, have set up a join exhibition booth in the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC) in Amsterdam. These projects are a group of the on going research and development efforts within the Networked Audiovisual Systems and Home Platforms (NAVSHP) strategic objective of the Information Society Technologies (IST) thematic priority of the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Commission. The exhibition is taking place in pavilion 10 of the International Broadcasting Convention IBC 2005 in Amsterdam from 9th to 13th September 2005.
This common exhibition, which includes a theatre for dissemination of the projects research results, responds to a hard cooperative work among different projects, a further step on top the traditional cooperation among partners within a single project.
As a fundamental milestone in the dissemination of the results achieved by NAVSHP projects, AVISTA is coordinating this common exhibition by means of organizing an IST Village inspired by the Networked Audiovisual Systems and Home Platforms domain. This common exhibition is a dissemination activity and its most important goal is to communicate the outcome of the research activities of NAVSHP projects which belong to the European Commission Sixth Framework Programme (FP6).
The design of the booth hosts eight projects gathered up in "thematic islands according to their research area and focus of interest, trying to promote synergies and complementing each other. These islands are the following: Convergence (ENTHRONE and INSTINCT), Residential gateway (EPERSPACE and MEDIANET), MPEG 21 (DANAE and TIRAMISU), 3D (COHERENT) and Interactive TV (MHP CONFIDENCE). Other projects like PULSERS, TEAHA, WCAM, MHP-KDB are also participating in the theatre programme aiming at disseminating goals and communicating R+D results.
Within the booth a common area has been created as a meeting point of the NAVSHP projects with IBC visitors. This area, conceived an active environment, seeks to attract the attention of potential partners and serve as a dialogue space for discussion of current projects results and brainstorming of new ideas for future projects.AVISTA is a Specific Support Action project within the NAVSHP strategic objective, funded by the European Commission FP6 programme. It aims at supporting the FP6 projects in this area in a number of topics: concertation, projects portfolio, standardization, New Media Council, common exhibitions, etc. AVISTA partners are: ROSE Vision (Coordinator), TELVIUM, INSTITUT FUER RUNDFUNKTECHNIK GMBH (IRT), PHILIPS ELECTRONICS NEDERLAND B.V. TELEDIFFUSION DE FRANCE.
