Virtual Reality (VR) technology is a rapidly evolving and diversifying field. The massive research and development process in this field has reached a degree which makes a pan-European structuring and integrating effort an absolute necessity. ,To promote the enhancement of the adoption of Virtual Environments (VEs) in industrial and other processes and assess the impact of its "penetration" into the workplace and everyday life, 58 organisations from 15 european countries have joined forces in creating INTUITION, a Network of Excellence focused on Virtual Reality and Virtual Environments applications for future workspaces.
INTUITION Networks aims :,- To bring together leading experts and key actors across all majors areas of VE understanding, development, testing and application in Europe, to support and strengthen scientific excellence and to continuously progress knowledge through common research initiatives,- To facilitate VR solutions in industrial applications : by enabling networking among industrial representatives, SMEs and key research institutes, universities and major international organisations or associations, it would be feasible to overcome fragmentation and promote VE establishment within product and process design ,- To provide valid training ground for future VR researchers while at the same time introduce VR into educational courses in a large scale.
