Information on current activities of project “BOOSTING BALTIC FP6”

The running training workshops of project BOOSTING BALTIC took place in Warsaw, on 4-5 October, 2005.

4 October 2005 - 5 October 2005
Germany
Project “Boosting Baltic FP6” is based on the cooperation of Scanbalt, Steinbeis Transferzentrum, The Swedish EU&RD Council and the 4 new EU member countries: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland in order to facilitate mutual exchange and learning process for successful participation in EU Sixth Framework programme (FP6) projects for research and technology development. “Boosting Baltic FP6” constitutes an integrated set of networking, training and coaching measures covering two target groups:
- National Contact Points (NCPs) of FP6 of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland
- Research community in Life Sciences

The consortium of project has already organized trainings in Poland, Estonia and Latvia. The running training workshop “Getting funding for Life Sciences projects – II” took place in Warsaw, 4th October, 2005. The Workshop was organized by the NCP of Poland. 20 researchers and representatives of SMEs from Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and Ukraine participated in this workshop. The main issues of the workshop were:
- How to prepare competitive STREP proposal,
- Electronic Proposal Submission System (EPSS),
- Calculation of proposal’s budget.
The workshop was practical, approach to Internet was provided. Training of the submission of projects using EPSS was carried out practically in small groups. During training of the cost calculation every participant completed the budget forms for the case study. Mistakes in the calculations were analyzed. In addition to the practical training the participants had the possibility to establish mutual contacts for further eventual collaboration in the proposal submission. Such approach is very helpful in the further development of the proposals.
On 5th October the National Contact points had a practical training, when proposals, elaborated by the Contact Points themselves, were presented and afterwards analyzed by experienced experts. It essentially improves the qualification of NCPs.
In 2006 4 national training events directed to getting ready for FP7 are planned.
