The annual conference of the Organization for European Patent Information and Documentation Systems (EPIDOS) will be held in Jena, Germany, from 20 to 22 October 1998. The event will comprise a conference, public exhibition and training seminars, and will provide a meeting point for professionals in the field.
The conference aims to provide a forum for a broad exchange of views on the various information products and services of the European Patent Office (EPO). This will take the form of addresses from various figures in the political and commercial world, including the President of the European Patent Office, Ingo Kober.
The exhibition, which will be open throughout the conference, will provide participants with a complete overview of developments in the field. Exhibitors from a range of database suppliers, commercial hosts, software developers, hardware suppliers, information brokers and patent offices will be present. These exhibitors will also be provided with an opportunity during the conference to present and explain their products and services.
A public seminar programme will present patents and patent information, including patent application procedures and strategies for exploitation and commercialization of new ideas. Public training programmes will also be held covering CD-ROM, on-line services, the European Patent Register, Japanese patent information and the Internet.
