The second European Software Reuse Workshop (ERW'98) will be held in Madrid, Spain, from 4 to 6 November 1998. The theme of the workshop will be "Assessing the benefits of software reuse", focusing on the impact of reuse practices in business results.

The workshop will bring together software practitioners, managers and applied researchers involved in improving software processes through the adoption of reuse practices, who will present and discuss their practical experience. In addition, the workshop will feature keynote presentations from recognised experts in the field and tutorials on themes related to software reuse.

Specific topics to be covered during the workshop include, but are not limited to, the following:

- How to start a reuse programme;
- Impact of reuse in the software processes;
- Relationship between reuse and SPI;
- Organization and management of a reuse programme;
- Reuse assessment and planing;
- Reuse priorities driven by business needs;
- ESSI PIE projects concerning reuse;
- Lessons learned from successes and failures in reuse introduction;
- Technology support for reuse;
- Reuse in SMEs and pragmatic tailoring of reuse methods.
