Workshop “How to reach the business community – communicating research results via business media”
Monday, 14th November 2005, 14h30 – 16h00, Room F

Come to listen and contribute concerning science-business communication issues!

Converting scientific achievements into industrial products requires relevant transfer of knowledge between the research and business communities.

This workshop addresses the specific issues related to science-business communication and the role of the business media in this process. It is designed to help project co-ordinators to understand how the various communication channels for reaching the business community are operating, and to help them develop good quality contacts. It will focus on the work of business publication editors in identifying and reporting on emerging news from the research community.

The workshop will

• Discuss how to work with business publication editors
• Provide views of business journalists
• Present a project case study to highlight the role of the media as a specific intermediary

Project participants will be encouraged to present questions directly to the panel, contribute examples of their successes or failures, and suggest story leads to the editors.
The session will offer specific tips and techniques, and identify useful resources.
