Intermodal transport in Scandinavia
The first day of the conference will feature the presentation of an EU-funded project on promoting integrated transport in the peripheral areas of the EU, SCANDINET. The project has been designed to meet the requirements of Task 3.1/1 of the European Commission's Transport research programme, which deals with integrated transport chains.
The overall aim of SCANDINET is to improve access to infrastructure, information and the market for intermodal transport services, in particular for SMEs. The results of the project, with particular reference to potential demand and supply of services, consolidation of flows into selected corridors and terminals, viable usage of intermodal transport and new information concepts, will be presented by project participants and keynote speakers from industry.
The second day will be devoted to presentations on EU policy and future EU actions in intermodal transport, alongside the presentation of Scandinavian case studies on national and inter-Nordic intermodal policy, views from intermodal transport users and the overall relevance and validity of the project.
