The second international conference on Engineering Psychology and Cognitive Ergonomics, will be held in Oxford, United Kingdom, from 28 to 30 October 1998. The aim of the conference is to provide a forum for the exchange of ideas between engineering psychologists and cognitive ergonomists.

A wide variety of topics will be covered during the event, with particular focus on designing and assessing multimodal interfaces. During the conference, papers will be presented in several parallel domains covering applications such as: human-computer interactions; process control; training technology; telecommunications; aerospace, and other forms of transportation.

Topics to be addressed in keynote presentations include:

- Cognitive ergonomics in the design and evaluation of the Web and other computing systems;
- Modelling and simulation of human behaviour in process control: needs, perspectives and applications;
- Realising the benefits of cognitive engineering in commercial aviation;
- The psychodynamics of human-machine interactions: living with clever machines.
