CARE Innovation'98
The event will be organized by CARE "VISION 2000", a voluntary, international, environmental R&D network, for the electronics industry in Europe. The strategic goal of the organization, which falls under the EUREKA initiative, is to provide an environmental research platform with emphasis on developing sustainable products.
The event will be divided into three components, covering the following:
- The International Symposium will consist of a series of presentations on the latest research relating to sustainable development and eco-efficient production of electronic goods. The symposium will provide participants with an international overview of current research and will cover the three economic regions of Europe, America and Asia.
- The International Brokerage event will offer participants the opportunity to exchange information and views on environmental research for the electronics industry, find partners for proposals, establish international contacts and research networks and stimulate innovative R&D cooperation projects. Three specific possible funding structures will be covered at the event, including national funding as a EUREKA project, European funding within the upcoming Fifth RTD Framework Programme and funding through the global Intelligent Manufacturing Systems initiative;
- The environmental exhibition will provide participants with the opportunity to exhibit or view a range of environmentally friendly products, including IT, office automation, telecommunications consumer electronics. In addition, a special section of the exhibition will provide details on the different financing options available as well as relevant information on research and development such as the CORDIS Information Service.
Topics to be covered during the event include:
. Economic forces driving the electronic industry towards sustainability;
. New high-tech products need to be ecologically conscious;
. Towards refurbishment, recycling, reuse and upgrading;
. Using the appropriate ecological benchmarking tools;
. Ecological education for all market players.
