Managing complex international projects - NM2 Seminar in Heidelberg

On 25 January 2006, EU research project NM2 is holding a seminar on "Managing complex international projects" in Heidelberg, Germany. Internationally experienced project managers and experts from Eurescom, BT, TNO, and other leading organisations will share their knowledge with the participants.

The seminar on "Managing complex international projects" is part of the training activities of EU research project NM2 - New Media for a New Millennium. The goal is to help the participants to better understand and manage the complexity of international R&D projects with geographically distributed partners.

Programme highlights

Participants will get first-hand information from international project managers and experts on the following topics:

- Characteristics of projects in EU research programmes
- The life cycle of a complex project
- Building and running collaborative projects
- Effective project management structures
- Management tools: mailing-lists, audio-conferencing, shared workspace, reporting
- Cultural diversity in multidisciplinary international projects
- Knowledge management in projects
- IPR issues in R&D projects
- Quality assurance in complex projects

Target audience

Project managers who already manage or will manage complex projects as well as anybody who would like to know more about the subject.
Although NM2 is a Framework Programme 6 IST project, participation is not limited to EU projects or the ICT domain.

Date and venue

The workshop will be held at Eurescom in the picturesque city of Heidelberg on 25 January 2006. The Eurescom premises are located within five minutes driving distance from Heidelberg castle and just 60 minutes away from Frankfurt Airport.

Registration

The number of participants is limited to 40. Registrations will be handled on the basis of first come first serve. Thanks to the support by the European Commission, we can offer this seminar at a uniquely low fee: the cost-covering participation fee for training material, lunch and beverages amounts to only EUR 40. All participants receive a documentation of the seminar presentations in print format and on CD.
