Legal aspects of intellectual property rights in electronic commerce

A workshop entitled "Legal aspects of intellectual property rights in electronic commerce" will take place in Münster, Germany, on 24 and 25 September 1998. The event is organized by the Westfälische Wilhelm-Universität, within the framework of the Electronic Commerce Legal Issues Platform (ECLIP), a project funded by the EU's ESPRIT programme.
The workshop will address legal issues of copyright law and trademark law raised by electronic commerce, for example domain name use; methods of cryptography and digital signatures to ensure copyright protection; European harmonization of intellectual property law in the electronic field; and the distinction between EU copyright law and competition law. It is aimed at EU-funded research projects, as well as lawyers working in the field of intellectual property rights in the electronic communications field.
The ECLIP project provides legal support to EU-funded projects on issues related to electronic commerce, with the aim of stimulating expertise and raising awareness of the legal framework for electronic commerce.
As attendance is limited, those interested in participating are advised to register early.
