A one-day workshop on educational software will take place in Athens, Greece, on 7 September 1998. Organized by the Computer Technology Institute of Greece, it will address the theme "New tools in education: New practices?".

The workshop is targeted at publishers, educational service providers, developers of educational software products, curriculum and activity authors and teachers and researchers. The main issues to be addressed during the workshop will include:

- The expertise required for the design of computer-based educational activities;
- The boundaries between technicians and education specialists in software development;
- The difficulties and expense of producing good quality software;
- The educational software market;
- The contribution of technology to educational reforms;
- The use of technology for infusing innovative practices and attitudes;
- The promise of component-oriented architecture towards developing educational software.
