An INTERPRISE event on electronics and medical devices will be held in Durham, United Kingdom, on 12 and 13 October 1998. This event, which will cover two specific exhibitions, will be supported by the INTERPRISE programme of the European Commission, DG XXIII, which is designed to encourage trading and research partnerships between SMEs on a regional, national and international level.

The event will comprise a presentation of various European regions, including Durham, UK, and partner regions from Finland, Germany and Holland. A medical devices technology transfer fair will also be featured. It will offer participants the opportunity to acquire new technologies and products during the exhibition and to develop strategic alliances through the business meetings arranged during the event.

Plenary sessions will cover the following topics:

- Technology transfer and intellectual property;
- Marketing and regulatory environment;
- Technology funding and marketing;
- The UK National Health Service and technology transfer;
- Medilink programme regional technology centre;
- Product innovation.
