A colloquium and exhibition on multimedia equipment will be held in Brussels, Belgium, on 14 October 1998. The event is organized by the Association of Engineers and the Centre of Industrial Research of the Université Libre de Bruxelles, with support from the Faculty of Applied Sciences.

The aim of the event is to highlight the effects of intensive usage on multimedia equipment and to discuss solutions such as more performance-oriented equipment.

The topics to be addressed during the conference will include the following:

- Multimedia and the digital revolution: what impact on the university of tomorrow;
- The application of laser chips;
- Silicon technology for multimedia image sensors;
- Equipment for optoelectronics and hyperfrequencies;
- Analogue memories;
- Technologies for reversible optical recording;
- New developments and challenges in the cable industry.
