MEDRESSA - Technology transfer forum for information technologies
- Cairo, Egypt, on 13 and 14 September 1998;
- Tunis, Tunisia, on 16 and 17 September 1998;
- Amman, Jordan, on 22 and 23 September 1998.
The workshops will be organized within the framework of the MEDRESSA project for the exploitation and dissemination of research results in the Mediterranean, which is funded under the EU's Information Technologies (ESPRIT) research programme.
The events will allow European industries (mainly SMEs) to present their developments of new products and services, with a view to seeking potential partners from southern Mediterranean countries. This will help to ensure that participants from these countries can learn more about new technology and its availability through business and research links with European counterparts.
European researchers will be present at the workshops to present and demonstrate their latest research results and to initiate potential business alliances. Partners from ongoing projects funded under the EU's RTD programme for Cooperation with Third Countries and International Organizations (INCO), who are already involved in technology transfer initiatives, will also be invited to report on their experiences. The topics to be addressed during the events will include the following:
- Technology transfer and the Mediterranean free trade zone: moving closer together;
- The industrial sectors and their role in the local economy;
- Technology transfer and how it works: a presentation of success stories;
- European IT research: where it is and how to access it.
