ICES'98, an international conference on evolvable systems will be held in Lausanne, Switzerland, from 23 to 25 September 1998, organised by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology. The aim of the conference is to bring together researchers who use biologically inspired concepts to implement real systems in artificial intelligence and life, robotics and related domains.

Topics to be covered in detail will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Evolving hardware systems;
- Evolutionary hardware design methodologies;
- Evolutionary design of electronic circuits;
- Embryonic circuits;
- Adaptive hardware platforms;
- Applications of nanotechnology;
- Biological and chemical-based systems.
