Second Edition of “RESEARCH TO BUSINESS – R2B 2006” - Bologna (Italy), 11-12 May, 2006

The Second Edition of “Research To Business (R2B) 2006”, the international fair for industrial research, will take place in Bologna at the premises of the Bologna Exhibition Center on May 11–12, 2006.

The R2B event will witness the participation of the most qualified public and private research centres at international level. The event is conceived as an original exchange platform through which representatives of leading international companies operating in the most innovative industrial sectors will be able to investigate scientific and technology co-operation opportunities and ventures with scientific and research counterparts. The crucial focal point and overall aim is to facilitate and foster science-industry relations and engage innovative industrial research projects among R2B participants and visitors.

R2B is promoted by BolognaFiere SpA (Bologna Trade Fairs organisation) and the Emilia-Romagna Regional Government, in collaboration with ICE (the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade), the Italian Ministry for Productive Activities and ASTER the Science, Technology and Business Consortium.

“Research To Business (R2B) 2006” is based on the two pillars of industrial development: Research and Finance&Services.

*Exhibitors and Sectors*
Universities, public and private research centres, R&D companies and laboratories, innovation centres and networks of excellence present the most close-to-market research results in 5 target sectors strategic for industrial innovation, according to the technological drivers identified by the European Union:
•High Mechanical Technology
•Biotechnologies
•Energy and Environment
•New Materials and Nanotechnologies
•ICT Services and applications

In addition, service and financial operators and structures supporting the development of technological transfer and research projects (banks, investment companies and foundations) provide content to the Financial and Services Sector.

Featured R2B guests and participants will be, among others, the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research, the Battelle Geneva Research Center, the Italian National Research Council and the Italian National Centre for New Technologies Energy and Environment, as well as business sector representatives such as Ferrari and Datalogic.

*Format of the event*
R2B is structured according to three main areas:
•Exhibition Area, , displayed according to specific research fields and sectors that will guide visitors and target clients along “problem solving paths”.
•Conference Area, hosting an opening symposium, conferences and “on demand” seminars related to the main thematic areas of the event.
•“Ready to Market Corner”, including sessions and technical workshops where exhibitors present research solutions ready for market application. Support in the negotiation process for reaching co-operation agreements with interested business representatives will be also provided.
•IRC Brokerage Event Innovat&Match organised by Aster-IRC IRENE, in collaboration with IRC-Estonia and IRC Western and Southern Sweden/Iceland. Innovat&Match represents a unique opportunity for exhibitors and visitors to arrange bilateral meetings, discuss and explore the possibilities of transnational cooperation and technology transfer (www.ircnet.lu).
•Other opportunities, such as the “Technology showcase”, the BtoB International Meetings and the Meeting Schedule Programme will also enrich this unique initiative.

The quality of products and the viability of projects exhibited and presented during the R2B event is guaranteed through the pre-validation of the R2B Scientific Committee composed by acclaimed research, business and finance representatives, such as Prof. Gianni Lorenzoni-University of Bologna -Chairman-, Mr. Augusto Porta - Vice President and Director of Battelle Geneva Research Center-, Mr. Carsten Dreher - Fraunhofer Institute -, Mr. Alessandro Ovi - Director of the MIT Technology Review, Italian Edition -, Mr. Marco Landi – President of Atlantis Ventures, Mr Riccardo Varaldo, President Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, Mr Romano Volta, President DATALOGIC SpA.
