An ISA-France seminar dedicated to the necessary protection of process control systems against cyber-attacks - The contribution of ISA SP99 committee will take place in Nice, France on 10-11 May 2006
10 May 2006 - 11 May 2006
For more than a decade, industrial controls have based their technology on the world of information systems. HMI stations and engineering tools use off-the-shelf hardware and software, while Ethernet and Internet have become a must. Control systems are starting to integrate wireless communications (Wi-Fi, ZigBee, Bluetooth, etc.). These trends have reduced system cost, improved functionality and led to tighter integration with production. The same trends have also led to decreased protection from external-world threats, making them more vulnerable vis à vis intrusions and other attacks. The resulting risks to production, installations, human safety and the environment are strongly perceived in the US since September 11. In Europe, the awareness in not as strong, but minds are evolving, after Madrid and London attacks.
This ISA-France seminar aims at giving an overview of the context and at proposing approaches and solutions. The ISA SP99 standardization committee is providing guidelines for the design and implementation of a security policy optimized against intruders and cyber-attacks.
The Nice seminar is placed under the auspices of the French Minister for Industry, Mr François LOOSFor further details please visit
