BALTICA IV, an international conference on plant maintenance, will be held in Helsinki, Finland, from 7 to 9 September 1998. The conference will be supported by the European Commission under the Industrial Materials and Technologies research programme (BRITE-EURAM).

The conference will focus on recent experiences in evaluating and maintaining essential components and systems of power plants. It will also provide an insight into improvements in maintenance strategies and the newest multidisciplinary techniques and methods developed for appraisal of major components and systems.

Topics to be addressed during the conference will cover the following subject areas:

- New technology for the competitive edge of present and future plants;
- Gas turbines and combined cycle plants;
- Steam turbines;
- Boilers and steam systems;
- Systems for maintenance management;
- Miniature specimen methods;
- Developments and applications in NDT and condition measurements;
- Developments and applications in the evaluation of materials, in-service damage and component performance.
