Infrastructures for secure, pervasive communication - Daidalos workshop in Brussels on 29 June 2006
The goal is a seamless, pervasive access to content and services via heterogeneous networks that supports user preferences and context. The project has used a user-centred, scenario-based and operator-driven approach to effectively cover user and business needs.
The focus of the workshop will be on three main areas:
- Security and privacy, including privacy and identity management
- Pervasive service concepts in mobile environments, and
- Automotive scenarios including car-to-car communication
Experts from Deutsche Telekom, Telefónica, Telenor, IBM, BMW, and leading academic institutions will present their findings.

About Daidalos
Daidalos is an Integrated Project under EU Framework Programme 6 for Research and Development in the Thematic Priority ‘Information Society Technologies’. The project is dedicated to the design of advanced network infrastructures and access technologies for location-independent, personalised communication services. The main objective of Daidalos is to develop a future network architecture for systems beyond 3G, based on Mobile IPv6.
47 partners from industry and academia were involved in phase I of the project, which started in 2003 and had a duration of 2.5 years. The follow-up project Daidalos II continues until December 2008. The project budget of Daidalos amounts to € 25.7 million (EC contribution: € 14.7 million) for phase 1 and € 22,1 m (EC contribution: € 13,8 million) for phase 2.
