I Summit on Interoperability in the iGovernment (ESIIG)

The event will involve local, regional, national and European administrations at political level and the private sector in order to reach some relevant conclusions that will give place to the signing of a Declaration on the priorities and the constitution of the ERNI high-level group (European Regional Network for Interoperability) that will work on an Action Plan.

The initiative of the European Commission, i2010, as well as the new i2010 eGovernment Action Plan have underlined once again that the interoperability is an essential key enabler for the eGoverment in order to offer smarter services to citizens and to ensure that the single market functions smoothly for electronic public services.

Several initiatives are being implemented regarding the interoperability in the eGovernment, but there is still a need to promote these efforts, in this sense the Generalitat has the aim to make a contribution from a regional point of view. With the purpose of accelerate this process, the Generalitat is organising the I European Summit on Interoperability in the iGovernment. The event will involve local, regional, national and European administrations at political level and the private sector in order to put in common their opinions, their proposals and to reach relevant conclusions about the future of the current eGovernment towards the Smart Government or iGovernment.

The event has already received the interest and support of the Committee of the Regions and a lot of European intermediary bodies and networks.

Why to attend?
? The Summit brings together high level policy-makers and other public and private stakeholders from across Europe.
? An unrivalled opportunity to interact, to discuss ideas and build relationships.
? A varied programme addressing the critical issues.
? A unique chance to help to establish priorities for policy actions on interoperability and to contribute to the definition of the public administration of the future: the Administration of the XXIth century.
? Speakers from a side range of institutions at European, national, regional and local level and from the private sector.

The Generalitat will share with the particpants its experience in the development of the Interoperabillity Valencian Framework and its initiatives to change eGovernment into the Smart Government, namely, the iGovernment.

The conclusions will give place to:

• The signing of a Declaration on the priorities that will be the basis on which starting acting immediately, in order to achieve an effective interoperability among the public administrations in Europe as soon as possible.

• The constitution of the ERNI high-level group (European Regional Network for Interoperability) that will work on an Action Plan that will contain a roadmap and will furnish the possibility to put in common the eServices that public administrations rend to citizenship.

As speaker: We will be pleased to receive the expressions of interest of high-political representatives at local, regional, national and European level in the field of eGovernment interoperability and from the private sector agents. Deadline 30th June 2006.
Will be specially appreciated those papers focused on the actions, plans, projects and initiatives in the field of the interoperability in the eGovernment, as well as about the difficulties and priorities to face in order to reach a unique interoperable eGoverment in Europe.
All the expressions of interest will be collected, with their author data, in the 'ESIIG book' which will be accessible in this website during and after the Summit. A very large dissemination will be done in order to let know to the most large public the practices on interoperability that are now ongoing in Europe.
The most outstanding application presented at the Summit will be awarded with the iG Award on the basis of the selection made by the Scientific Committee in order to recognize the best practice in the field of interoperability in the eGovernment.
As participant: The event is open to a broad range of public: public administrations, the academic world, ICT stakeholders and intermediate entities and the private sector.

The organisation is working on a full social agenda for the Summit and for the weekend subsequent as well, for those participants who want to stay to know Valencia and its surrounding area. The expenses of the activities proposed for the weekend will be met by the participants.

The Summit will be webcast live from canal GV, the multimedia channel of the Generalitat (www.canalgv.es) it will be available as well afterwards through that website.This is an initiative of the Valencian regional government (Generalitat) co-ordinated by the regional Vice Ministry for Telecommunications and Information Society within AVANTIC, namely, the strategic plan to consolidate the Advanced Telecommunications and the Knowledge and Technological Society in the Valencian Region (2004-2010), www.avantic.es.
