2nd Annual European Energy Policy Conference 2006

On the 16th and 17th of October 2006, the 2nd in a series of 5 annual events will take palce in Brussels designed to develop a common platform for debate on the development of EU energy policy in Europe and beyond

16 October 2006 - 17 October 2006
Austria
The formulation of current and future directions within the area of European energy policy is more complex now than ever before. This is due both in part to the growth of influencing factors which operate, in many senses, outside of that which the EU has tangible control, and which exert pressures which demand sensitive appraisal and diplomacy, and in part to the non-resolution of many fundamental issues within Europe itself.

The multi-faceted development of oil and gas rich countries across the world and their strategic importance to the West, unstable geopolitical landscapes and diplomatic standoffs, particularly in relation to the enrichment of uranium, have both individually and collectively caused many to question the speed at which such issues as the continuing fragmented state of the EU internal energy market and the lack of a common voice on energy and external relations issues, are being resolved. It would appear that 2006/2007 will be a definitive period, providing an insight into the future navigation of the internal market generally, and external relations with both strategic partners and those yet to be brought into the fold.

Aimed at all stakeholders in the energy debate, the 2nd Annual European Energy Policy Conference is part of a 5-year commitment to the development of debate and critical discussion on the issues surrounding the energy industry, energy policy, sustainability and relations with the wider stakeholder constituency. There will be ample time for networking and relaxed discussion and key session focussing upon the emerging markets and the investment and funding opportunities available.

Key issues to be covered include security of supply, LNG, renewables, investment climates, emerging markets, global energy consumption, energy efficiency, EU ETS and current projects in place that are helping to drive forward cleaner production of energy.

We welcome input from all stakeholders during the formulation of this event in order that its relevance is maintained.

Epsilon looks forward to welcoming you and your colleagues to this and future events, in the drive for a clearer sense of direction for energy and its related issues across the EU.
