The 37th annual international congress on man-made fibres will be held in Dornbirn, Austria, from 16 to 18 September 1998. The congress is organised by the Austrian Man-made Fibres Institute and will be supported within the framework of the European Commission's Industrial Materials and Technologies research programme (BRITE-EURAM).

The congress, which is technical in nature, will provide an opportunity for the exchange of information on technological developments and research and development issues between interested parties. The following topics will provide the focus for the conference:

- Raw materials and intermediate products for fibre manufacturing;
- New or modified types of fibre;
- Machinery and processes for manufacturing fibres, yarns and textiles;
- Auxiliary materials for fibres, yarns and textiles;
- Application of fibres and textiles;
- Quality assurance and ecological management in the production of fibres and in the textile processing chain, including recycling and waste disposal.
