Sub-contracting in hospitals and prevention of waste in the health sector

Two colloquiums on hospitals and the health sector will be organised by the French organisation, Pôle de l'Hôpital later this year. The first, addressing logistics in hospital management, will be held in Forbach, France, on 21 and 22 October 1998 and the second, discussing the prevention and management of waste in the health sector, will be held in Luxembourg on 3 December 1998.
The aim of these events is to exchange information and best practice in the health sector. The first colloquium will compare legislation governing hospital management in France, Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium and discuss sub-contracting issues in the fields of medicine, sterilisation, maintenance, data processing and purchasing. The will enable the exchange of experiences with other countries and will aim to develop sub-contracting arrangements with SMEs.
The second colloquium on the prevention and management of waste in the health sector will summarise, define and analyse waste legislation in the French region of Sar-Lor-Lux. In addition, current practice at national level in four European countries on the organisation, management and elimination of waste, waste management in hospitals and innovations in waste management will also be discussed.
