The annual conference on electronic commerce, organised by the Institut de l'Audiovisuel et des Télécommunications en Europe (IDATE) and IIR Telecoms, will be held in Paris, France, from 29 September to 1 October 1998. The event will feature an exhibition hall for the suppliers of electronic commerce applications. The aim of the event is to discuss and explore the technological, marketing and regulatory issues related to electronic commerce. This will cover the most advanced EU-funded research projects such as the Marketing with Intelligent Agents (MIA) project of the Information Technologies research programme (ESPRIT) and the Advanced Communication Technologies and Services research programme (ACTS).

Specific topics to be addressed will include the following:

- Overview of business electronic commerce strategies;
- Web design as a strategic tool for selling and promoting products;
- The key factors for a successful and profitable Website;
- Cybermarketing and electronic commerce: How to develop a new relationship with your customers and business partners;
- Mastering and securing the transaction process;
- The impacts of electronic commerce on your organisation;
- Utilising the potential of electronic commerce to improve strategic marketing.
