Call for Participation: W3C Workshop on Privacy Policy and Enforcement

W3C will hold a workshop on Languages for Privacy Policy Negotiation and Semantics-Driven Enforcement on 17-18 October 2006 at the Joint Research Center (JRC) of the European Commission in Ispra, Italy.

17 October 2006 - 18 October 2006
Austria
Vendors and researchers will meet to discuss privacy for personal data, automated policy negotiation in Web services, Web applications and
identity management, and the use of Semantic Web technologies for privacy enforcement.

Participation is open to W3C Members and any other industrial and academic organization. The goal of this workshop is to bring together
the IT-industry with a need for the management of personal data like e-health, customer relation management, new online community services,
as well as privacy researchers from all over the world.

The deadline for receiving position papers (2 to 5 pages) is 13 September 2006.

The broad variety of Program Committee members reflects the strong interest to work on languages for privacy policies and enforcement. The Committee includes representatives from Ericsson, HP, IBM, ICPP, JRC, NEC, Neustar, Oracle, Rewerse, SAP, Stanford University, Sun, SwissCom, Telefónica, University of Milano, Verisign, and W3C.

The workshop is organized by the W3C Privacy Activity and is hosted by the Joint Research Center of the European Commission (JRC). It is
inspired by PRIME, the IST Project addressing Privacy and Identity Management for Europe.

W3C-ERCIM, the European part of W3C, is a participant of the PRIME Project. Günther Karjoth, Member of the ERCIM Security and Trust Management Working Group, will co-chair the workshop.
