Solutions to corrosion problems

EUROCORR'98, the annual European congress on solutions to corrosion problems will be held in Utrecht, The Netherlands, from 28 September to 1 October 1998. The event will comprise a series of plenary and parallel sessions and workshops on issues related to corrosion protection and the industrial application of research.
The event will open with a keynote speech on the materials and corrosion aspects of wet gas transportation. This will be followed by a session intended for the exchange of information on corrosion problems in automotive vehicles. This should lead to the eventual establishment of a permanent working party on automotive corrosion. The other working parties which cover issues such as marine corrosion, microbial corrosion, coatings, education and testing will meet in parallel sessions on the final three days of the conference.
A key feature of this year's conference is a workshop which aims to inform participants on new R&D possibilities and on the technical content of the upcoming Fifth RTD Framework Programme (1998-2002). The workshop, which is sponsored by the European Commission under the Industrial Materials and Technologies research programme (BRITE-EURAM), will introduce the Fifth Framework Programme and issues relating to the successful participation of SMEs.
In addition, a session will be devoted to the submission of research proposals and partner search and a special brokerage event will be scheduled during the conference, hosted by EG-Liaison, to discuss new programmes and projects within the Fifth Framework Programme.
