The international MEDCOAST conference on the wind and wave climate of the Mediterranean and the Black Sea will be held in Antalya, Turkey, from 30 March to 2 April 1999. The conference is a concluding activity of the NATO TU-WAVES project (1994-1998) which was conducted in an effort to understand the climate affecting the Black Sea and the Turkish coast on the Mediterranean and Aegean Seas.

The project consists of systematic wave measurements, wind and wave modelling and climate computations. The organisers of the conference have issued a call for papers, related to the subjects to be covered during the conference which include:

- Wind and wave data collection and instrumentation;
- Ongoing measurement programs;
- Wind and wave modelling, hindcasting and forecasting;
- Wind and wave assimilation and statistics;
- Wind and wave climate and climatic variations.
