7 June 1999 - 7 June 1999
Belgium
The second European road research conference will be held in Brussels, Belgium, from 7 to 9 June 1999, organised by the European Commission, together with members of the Forum of European National Highway Research Laboratories (FEHRL) and the Forum of European Road Safety Institutes (FERSI).

The conference will focus on road transport issues with the objective of establishing areas where broader issues of intermodality affect policy for road investment and use. Discussions during the conference will include aspects such as consistency of evaluation and assessment techniques for efficiency, safety and environmental improvement across all modes of transport.

The conference will comprise an initial plenary session and four parallel sessions addressing issues on infrastructure and safety, with a fifth session devoted to environmental considerations in these areas. During these sessions, EU-funded projects under the Transport RTD programme and the COST programme for European cooperation in scientific and technical research will be presented, along with relevant projects being undertaken within other EU, international and national research programmes. In addition, a series of workshops will address specific issues related to these themes.
