COGEN 1998 - The consequences of localisation of energy production
The conference will comprise a series of keynote papers on European Commission strategies to achieve increases in cogeneration and renewable energy sources and the economics and implications of energy provision in a more liberalised and environmentally friendly market. The topics to be discussed during the plenary sessions of the conference will include:
- Localisation of energy supply - a challenge for Europe;
- The next steps in the EU's Combined Heat and Power strategy;
- The future for the energy sector: changing entrenched views;
- The environmental perspective of the localisation of power production;
- The needs and opportunities for countries in transition: a view from Poland and beyond.
In addition, two parallel sessions will address the administrative obstacles to the decentralisation of cogeneration and micro cogeneration as a technological breakthrough. This will involve the presentation of the SAVE study as well as German and Dutch case studies. Other topics will cover issues such as integration issues, financing aspects and national programmes to stimulate the uptake of cogeneration.
