Information and communication technologies in public administration

ICTPA'98, the third international conference on information and communication technologies in public administration, will take place in Sinaia, Romania, on 5 and 6 October 1998. The event will maintain the focus of previous years on "better government, cheaper government" but this year will concentrate on administrative reform by information and communications technologies.

The overall aim of the conference is to bring together representatives from administrations, industry and researchers from all over Europe, including the EU and the Central and Eastern European countries. The programme will raise awareness of issues involved in the development of the Information Society and encourage cooperation between government authorities and industry, researchers and financiers. In this way, it is hoped that Central and Eastern European countries will be able to modernise their public institutions and improve services to their citizens, while developing better cooperation with other European governments.
