Conference on food, agriculture, biotechnology, Budapest, Hungary

A training for researchers followed by an information day will be held in Budapest, Hungary on 26-27 October 2006.
The entire event is organised by the Hungarian Science and Technology Foundation as an activity of the TrainNet Future SSA project, supported by the European Commission

The conference will provide a forum for delegates to discuss opportunities for EU research funding in food, agriculture and biotechnology, financial issues in Framework Programmes and participation in the related European Technology Platforms (ETPs). The event will feature a keynote address by Dr Christian Patermann, Director of "Biotechnology, Agriculture and Food" at the European Commission's Research Directorate General.
During the event the following issues will be addressed:
1. FP7, Thematic Priority 2 “Food, Agriculture and Biotechnology”; presented by Dr. Christian Patermann, Director EC DG Research, Biotechnology and Food Quality and
2. Financial issues in Framework Programmes; Jacques Evrard, Brussels Enterprise Agency, Belgium
3. Possibilities offered by the 7th Framework Programme’s People, Capacities and Ideas pillars for agriculture/food researchers; Roger Fenwick, International Food Research Institute, UK
4. European Technology Platforms related to the food and agriculture sector; Ivan Minkov, University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria; Roger Fenwick, Institute of Food Research, UK
5. Optimising regional benefit: CEI Consultation on the European Technology Platform “Food for Life”;Kitti Németh, VUP, Slovakia
6. The Hungarian National Food Technology Platform; András Seb?k, Campden & Chorleywood Food Industry Development Institute, Hungary
7. Role of the Hungarian Federation of Food Industries (EFOSZ) in promoting food research and international cooperation; Attila Boródi, EFOSZ, Hungary
The information day will provide a forum for the open exchange of experiences on the Seventh Framework Programme, Thematic Priority 2 among the participants. For more information, please contact:
